Hello! I’m Ana Duque but everyone calls me Ani — an artist with too many hobbies. But as you can tell from my portfolio, illustration is my main focus.

I was born on Madeira Island, and maybe that’s why the sea is so important to me. I’m now living in Espinho — a city by the sea, of course.

One of my earliest memories is of me sitting in my room, drawing. It’s something that has always been part of my life, with a constant subject: people.

When I was young, I loved riding the train and the subway because I could watch people — their noses, ears, the clothes they chose to wear, the way they styled their hair. These days, I just sit at the beach and do the same. I love it, because people inspire me to draw.

Although drawing people from everyday life is one of my favorite things to do, I’m also passionate about creating unique compositions with different elements.

As you’ll see in my portfolio, I’m in love with everything ocean-related, with flowers (have you noticed how many shapes and colors there are!?) — and yes, I’m definitely an animal lover.

With a degree in Graphic Design (ESAD, Matosinhos, Portugal) focused on drawing and illustration, I keep expanding my skills through mini courses with artists like Bett Norris, Laura Athayde, and Jimena Sarquiz — because I believe we should never stop learning.
